تدرس كوالكوم بشكل جدّي رفض العرض المُقدّم من شركة Broadcom للاستحواذ عليها لقاء 103 مليار دولار أمريكي، وهذا حسب تقرير صادر عن وكالة رويترز.
وتُساهم عوامل كثيرة في هذا القرار منها عدم تقييم كوالكوم بالشكل الأمثل وعدم أخذ مشاكل الجهات التشريعية على محمل الجد، فمثل تلك الصفقة ستُدخل الشركتين في دوّامة من التحقيقات من قبل الجهات المُختصّصة للتأكد من شرعيّتها ومطابقتها للقانون.
وأشار التقرير إلى أن Broadcom جاهزة لمثل هذا الأمر وتنوي رفع قيمة العرض أملًا في إرضاء مجلس إدارة الشركة الذي بإمكانه تغيير كل شيء لو قرّر بيع الشركة بغض النظر عن رأي مسؤوليها، فهو يمتلك الصلاحيات لتغيير أعضاء مجلس الإدارة وجلب أشخاص آخرين للموافقة على البيع.
ولم تُعلّق الشركتان حتى الآن تقرير رويترز، لكن كوالكوم بشكل أو بآخر غير مُضطرة للبيع في الوقت الراهن بالنظر إلى معالجات “سناب دراجون” الموجودة في نسبة كبيرة جدًا من الهواتف الذكية، دون نسيان شرائحها الإلكترونية للاتصالات اللاسلكية المستخدمة كذلك في الكثير من الهواتف منها “آيفون” من آبل.

Many factors contribute to this decision, including the failure to assess Qualcomm in an optimal manner and not to take the problems of legislators seriously. Broadcom is ready for this and intends to raise the offer in the hope of satisfying the company's board of directors, which can change everything if it decides to sell the company regardless of the opinion of its officials, it has the authority to change the board of directors and bring other people to approve the sale.
