A newly released patent shows Apple's iPhone feature exploration that can identify hand movements and gestures.
This feature is called 3D hand tracking which is one of the 36 Apple patents just released by the US Patent and Trademark Office, as reported by Apple Patently. Most of the patents are connected to earthly things such as battery power and wireless devices, but the 3D tracking is more interesting: the feature will use the camera system TruidePhone iPhone X, which currently enables iPhone X to recognize the faces.

To clear the faces accurately, the camera shoots up about 30,000 invisible, infrared dots on the face of the Evon user, allowing the phone to accurately identify the person's unique facial features. It is assumed that this same technology will be used to determine how to move a hand or signal in 3D space.
If Apple ever realizes this idea, it can lead to some great features. According to Apple's Batentle, this could mean drawing the tochles and interpreting sign language.
Perhaps more futuristic sounding possibilities may be controlling different applications - perhaps Google Maps - by just directing and pointing on the screen. For now, however, 3D hand tracking is just an idea, but one Apple can seek.
