Study: A large proportion of large sites are trying to bypass ad blocking extensions |
The latest studies by UC Riverside and University of Iowa universities have found that thousands of large sites develop techniques to eliminate and override ad blocking.
According to the study, nearly 30% of the top 10,000 Web sites have developed special techniques to trick ad blockers to show ads and make material use of it without the user being primarily aware of the practices.
The rate did not exceed 5% earlier. But it has increased to about 30%, which makes it difficult for developers of ad blocking extensions. Some websites display deceptive content as adverts, and add-ons block it. These sites then display real ads as they overlap those extensions.
