Amazon announces its withdrawal from the Chinese market because of the strength of competition |
Amazon.com, the largest online retailer in the world, has announced its withdrawal from the Chinese market by closing Amazon.com from July 18.
Amazon said China's competitive power is the cause, but the company is still committed to growth and investment in the Chinese market. The pullout will not affect the Amazon brand because it basically has a very small share of China's e-commerce market against rivals such as Alibaba and JD.com.
Consumers in China can buy goods from Amazon stores around the world, but traders can view them at stores in Amazon, America, Britain, Japan and Germany.
Amazon has also announced that it is continuing to provide cloud services in China and is keen to continue selling Kindle's reading machines as well as sales services through Amazon's global stores.
